日本語

Tomato is the richest source of “lycopene”, which is one of the most powerful natural antioxidants. Well-cooked tomatoes provide four times more lycopene than raw tomatoes. Lycopene is fat soluble, so it is most efficiently absorbed into the body when accompanied by dietary fats. Tomatoes are cool in nature and they are in season around June through August.

Tomato has a lot of benefits for skin. It helps in getting rid of tanning, counters discoloration of skin, helps in treating and preventing acne, shrinks open pores and regulates secretion of sebum in oily skin.

Organic tomato products such as tomato paste, juice, soup, sauce, and ketchup contain higher concentrations of lycopene than raw tomato.

The cholesterol-lowering effect of all sorts of good vegetables would improve by cooking. Lycopene, especially in cooked tomatoes improve the skin’s ability to protect against harmful UV rays and sunburn and help keeping the skin looking youthful. It also helps to prevent breast cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancers and strongly is protective against heart and neurodegenerative diseases.

Lycopene helps women guard against "Cervical Intra-epithelial Neoplasia", (CIN), tumorous tissue growth in the cervix.

Men who eat two or more servings of tomato products average a 35 percent reduction in prostate cancer risk.

Lycopene boosts fertility in men. The research shows that lycopene improved sperm count by up to 70 percent and swimming speed, and reduced the number of abnormal sperm.

Selection and storage:
Fresh ripe tomatoes regardless of size feature beautiful bright-red color, firm and have a rich fruity flavor. Avoid those with wrinkled surface, discolored spots, cuts and too soft.

Tomatoes keep best unwashed at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. Ripe tomatoes are one of the easily perishable vegetables and should be stored in the refrigerator. Tomatoes that are not yet ripe can be kept in a paper bag till ripening.
